MudLark

Mudlark is Katie Henry, Laura Sandage, and Ray Frank, a trio of Davis musicians that has charmed audiences together since 2005. Their rootsy, intense sound features banjo, guitar, string bass, and three strong voices harmonizing intensely over a broad emotional and stylistic range. Their uniquely fresh and elegant brand of Americana draws on broadly varied influences including bluegrass and Appalachian music, folk, country, blues, pop, old-time, choral and parlor singing, tapping into many rich veins of American music past and present.

Mudlark

MudLark's exquisitely crafted original songs and traditional material invite listeners into a deep, sometimes raw place, wild with beauty, earthy humor, mournful longing, and a touch of the grotesque.
MudLark's interweaving harmony vocals and instruments create a rich, graceful musical landscape that has captured the hearts and minds of audiences wherever they have played. Their shows invite the listener on a voyage from tears to big belly laughs, from mud-covered river bottoms to internal mountain peaks. The group has been on hiatus for a while, and is excited to come together again for this Sahaya benefit event.

Press Quotes:

“MudLark’s contemporary sound, with definite old-timey echoes, is fashioned from wonderful vocal harmonies, guitar, banjo, string bass, trump (Jew's harp) and percussion… [Nest, MudLark’s 2006 debut cd,] is altogether a first-rate collection of songs eliciting love, warmth, and a true sense of musical purpose, by a trio that makes its own definite mark on the musical landscape. “

Robert Rodriguez - The Folknik

“The Davis trio MudLark puts a unique spin on Americana, with elements of Appalachian music, folk, country, blues, pop, old-time, choral and parlor singing.
[Mudlark] put together a dazzling set of original tunes on [their Nest] album. They cover a wide range of topics, from the personal to political, with the mood alternating between serious and seriously funny..
.”
